Scream

Are you ready to Scream again? For 4 screenings only, experience this fan favorite like you’ve never done before. With Halloween fast approaching, it’s time to get spooky! Rewind Cinema is here to provide the scares.

Originally released in 1996, Scream is back to hit our screens once more for the spooky season. With an all-star studded cast consisting of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard, Drew Barrymore and Rose McGowan, it was directed by Wes Craven, who is also known for his other hits like A Nightmare on Elm Street and Last House on the Left.

Scream follows Woodsboro High teen, Sidney Prescott, who is mourning the loss of her mother who was murdered a year prior. When a fellow classmate is brutally murdered, the small town of Woodsboro begins to be terrorized by a masked killer who goes by the persona of Ghostface. When the killer targets Sidney and her friends, all hell breaks loose, and nobody is safe.

Skeet Ulrich, Neve Campbell, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan and Jamie Kennedy as Billy Loomis, Sidney Prescott, Stu Macher, Tatum Riley and Randy Meeks.

The film is a classic depiction of slasher film tropes and makes references to some of the greatest horror films to exist, such as: Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, When a Stranger Calls, The Exorcist and more.

Fact: There’s a line in the film that David Arquette’s character, Dewey Riley, says about the killer’s costume and how they can’t track it down because it’s “sold in every five-and-dime in the state.” As of 2023, the Ghostface costume is the best-selling Halloween costume of all time.

Since its initial release in 1996, it has gone on to create 5 sequels, and is currently in development for their 7th installment. The film became such a hit, it even garnered its own parody movie, Scary Movie, which was released in 2000, and a tv series in 2015 with the same name.

Ghostface’s haunting reflection in the eye of an unfortunate victim.

Fact: Roger Jackson provides the haunting voice of Ghostface in the film. Originally, he was intended to be used just as a placeholder, but Wes Craven found his version perfect, dubbing it as ‘intelligent’ and ‘evil’. Roger has gone on to provide the Ghostface voice in each installment.

A new era of teen horror/slasher films was created, and that’s all thanks to Wes Craven, who sadly passed in 2015. Despite his untimely passing, his legacy will forever live on in the art he created and gifted to us.

Whether it’s your first time seeing it or your hundredth, Scream is a must see and one to add to your horror collection. See it only at Rewind Cinema on either the 7th, 8th, 20th and 21st of October this Halloween season. Tickets available to purchase at the bar on the night or here. One last question… What’s your favorite scary movie?
